Massage Therapy Services

Massage Therapy services as provided by Registered Massage Therapists (RMT). The RMT will evaluate the condition of the patient and will determine the appropriate massage therapy techniques to utilize to effectively deal with the condition. Massage therapists have completed their training at a government approved school of Massage Therapy and have been examined and licensed by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario under the Regulated Health Professionals Act (RHPA).

Massage therapy involves the manipulation of the soft tissues of the body for a therapeutic effect. This may result in stretching of muscle and connective tissue, increasing blood and lymph flow. A wide range of hands-on techniques are employed to help prevent and reduce stress and tension as well as the discomfort of injuries or chronic conditions.

Typical types of massage techniques use may include Swedish massage methods, shiatsu pressure methods, lymphatic drainage and others. Massage therapy will produce increases in circulation, will help to reduce muscular tension and enhance nerve input into the tissue. Pressure techniques will alter circulation and further contribute to enhanced tissue recovery.

In the treatment room, your RMT will review your history with you - this may involve some testing and assessment and together you will develop a treatment plan to suit your needs. Your therapist will advise you on what to expect during the treatment and show you how to lie on the massage table.

Massage Therapy can be effective in the management of the following:
  • chronic stress/muscle tension - headaches
  • back and neck pain - arthritis
  • strain/sprain of muscles - athletic injuries
  • bursitis - tendonitis
  • postural stress - sciatica/leg pain
  • whiplash injuries - face and jaw (TMJ) dysfunction

Gift certificates for massage therapy sessions can be purchased at the clinic.
